Introduction of undergraduate major: Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation

time:2026-01-23

一、Major label

Measurement and Control Sensing the World, Instrumentation Within Reach.

The integration of optics, mechanics, electronics, computing, and control cultivates professionals destined to become chief engineers.

二、Major introduction

This major was established in 2002 and currently offers a Master's program in Instrument Science and Technology as a first-tier discipline, as well as a professional master's program in Electronic Information (Instrumentation Engineering). In 2019, it passed the national Engineering Education accreditation, and in 2020, it was approved as a "national first-class undergraduate major" construction site.

There are currently 21 full-time faculty members, including 7 professors and 9 associate professors. Among them, 4 serve as doctoral supervisors and 15 as master's supervisors. The faculty team has been recognized as a High-Level Undergraduate Teaching Team in Jiangxi Province. It also includes high-level talents such as a National Outstanding Teacher, talents selected under Jiangxi Province's "Double Thousand Plan," and academic discipline leaders among young and middle-aged university faculty.

In recent years, the program has undertaken over 30 national-level projects, including those under the National Key R&D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as more than 50 provincial and ministerial-level projects. It has received one first prize in the Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, along with one first prize and one second prize in the Jiangxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. The program is equipped with innovative practical training platforms such as the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Intelligent Robotics, the Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Base, and the Lanboxinke Measurement and Control Innovation Base.

三、What to learn

1、Training Methods and Curriculum System

Adhering to the principles of engineering education accreditation, the program adopts a student-centered approach and implements outcome-based education to continuously improve the quality of training. It emphasizes the cultivation of students' practical and innovative abilities, aiming to develop versatile engineering and technological talents who are highly aligned with current industries, possess strong adaptability to societal and industrial demands, and grow in tandem with the new economy and new industrial advancements.

This major integrates five key knowledge systems: optics, mechanics, electronics, computing, and control. It focuses on application fields such as "intelligent sensing" and "precision instrumentation," contributing to the development of high-end, sophisticated instruments and breaking through technological bottlenecks in critical areas.

2、Course Content

The core courses include Engineering Optics, Precision Mechanical Design, Signals and Systems, Principles and Applications of Single-Chip Microcomputers, Sensor Principles, Automatic Control Theory, and Intelligent Instrumentation. Research directions focus on areas such as intelligent sensing, precision instrumentation, intelligent control, and robotics.

3、Academic Events

The major has established two student practical innovation bases: the Lanboxinke Measurement and Control Innovation Base and the Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Base. The former is primarily responsible for organizing the Optoelectronic Design Competition, while the latter oversees the "Siemens Cup" China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge.
