Our Institute Wins National Award in the 2025 "Unveiling the List and Claiming the Command" Arena of the 19th "Challenge Cup" China Youth Sc

From October 10 to 12, 2025, the main arena competition in the robotics field of the "Unveiling the List and Claiming the Command" Arena of the 2025 "Challenge Cup" China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition concluded in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. The project "Twin Welding Master" from the Advanced Manufacturing Institute of Nanchang University stood out in the fiercely competitive specialized track "DG-04: Design of a Mobile Welding Robot System with High-Precision and Multi-Process Collaborative Operation," winning the National Third Prize. This achievement marks a breakthrough for the institute in the national "Challenge Cup" competition in recent years.

This competition topic was issued by the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone Digital Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Association, focusing on the "bottleneck" technological challenges of next-generation welding robots. Entries were required to possess core capabilities such as high precision, multi-process collaboration, and digital twinning. After multiple rounds of intense competition, including qualification review, preliminary evaluation, and the final arena contest, and under the supervision of national notaries, the competition organizing committee ultimately awarded 4 Special Prizes, 4 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, and 5 Third Prizes in the student track. The Nanchang University "Twin Welding Master" team secured an award among numerous outstanding entries with its systematic technical architecture and advanced algorithm design, demonstrating the university's solid foundation and innovative vitality in the field of intelligent manufacturing.

The "Twin Welding Master" project directly addresses the competition requirements. Targeting industry pain points such as precision control, process flexibility, and intelligent management in the welding of large structural components, the team developed a high-precision, intelligent digital twin system for a mobile welding robot, showcasing their exceptional capabilities in robot system design and integrated application. In the future, the team will continue to deepen the integration of intelligent algorithms, expand the functionality of the digital twin system, and advance the autonomous and flexible upgrading of robots. They are committed to building a cloud-edge collaborative intelligent manufacturing ecosystem for industrial robots, contributing youthful wisdom and strength to the intelligent transformation of China's high-end equipment manufacturing industry.

It is reported that this year's "Unveiling the List and Claiming the Command" Arena of the "Challenge Cup" competition emphasizes scientific and technological innovation. It rigorously selected 122 challenge topics across eight cutting-edge fields: new-generation information technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, high-end equipment, new energy, new materials, biomedicine, and seed industry technology innovation. Main arenas were established in eight cities (districts) with relatively complete industrial chains and clustered industrial development in related fields, serving as venues for concentrated competitions and exchange exhibitions of entries for the corresponding challenge topics. The number of topics, scale of the competition, and award conditions all reached record highs.
