[Good News] Professor Xiong Pengwen from Our Institute Awarded the "2025 Young Scientist and Technologist Award of Jiangxi Science & Technol

News from this website (Advanced Manufacturing Institute, Duan Rong): Recently, the Jiangxi Science & Technology Talent Development Foundation officially issued the  Decision on Recognizing the Awardees of the "2025 Young Scientist and Technologist Award of Jiangxi Science & Technology Talent Development Foundation" . Through stages including organizational recommendation, rigorous selection, and public announcement, only 20 outstanding young scientists and technologists across the province received this honor. Professor Xiong Pengwen from our institute was successfully selected for his outstanding achievements in the field of intelligent robotics, fully demonstrating the innovative strength and sense of mission of the young scientific and technological talent in our institute.

It is reported that the "Young Scientist and Technologist Award of Jiangxi Science & Technology Talent Development Foundation" (originally the Jiangxi Young Scientist and Technologist Award) was established in 2021 by the Jiangxi Science & Technology Talent Development Foundation and is awarded biennially. It aims to recognize young scientists and technologists who have made outstanding contributions to technological innovation, science popularization, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and economic and social development. The award seeks to further strengthen the development of high-level innovative talent teams in our province and motivate young scientific and technological talents to scale new heights in science and serve high-quality development.

Xiong Pengwen's award serves as a vivid footnote to the Advanced Manufacturing Institute of Nanchang University's practice of its motto, "Revering Craftsmanship and Virtue, Advancing Intelligent Manufacturing through Innovation." In the future, the institute will continue to deepen the integration of talent cultivation and scientific research innovation, further foster a positive ecosystem that respects talent and encourages breakthroughs, promote the translation of more scientific research achievements, and contribute Nanchang University's wisdom and strength to building an innovative Jiangxi and a strong manufacturing province.

Expert Profile

Xiong Pengwen, Male, Ph.D., Professor, Doctoral Supervisor. Currently serves as the Director of the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Intelligent Robots, Director (Bureau-Level) of the Robotics Research Institute of Nanchang University, and Vice Dean of the Advanced Manufacturing Institute of Nanchang University.

He is an IEEE Senior Member, a member of the Force and Tactile Perception and Interaction Committee of the China Instrument and Control Society, a member of the Intelligent Automation Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, an Executive Committee Member of the Intelligent Robotics Committee of the China Computer Federation, and a member of the Cognitive Systems and Information Processing Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. He is a recipient of the Jiangxi Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund, a talent under the Jiangxi "Double Thousand Plan", an Academic and Technological Leader in Key Disciplines of Jiangxi Province, and a member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Automation, Instrumentation, and Electrical Majors in Jiangxi Province.

In recent years, he has presided over a sub-project of the National Key R&D Program "Intelligent Robots", 4 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a project of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and over 10 other provincial/ministerial-level projects, as well as several industry-funded projects. He has published more than 100 academic papers in high-level domestic and international journals and conferences such as  IEEE TCYB, IEEE TII, IEEE TIE, IEEE TSMCA, IEEE TMECH, IEEE TASE, IEEE/CAA JAS, Scientia Sinica Technologica, Scientia Sinica Informations, Acta Automatica Sinica, Robot , ICRA, and IROS. He has applied for 35 national invention patents as the first inventor, with 23 already granted. He has received the First Prize of Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (ranking first), the Second Prize of Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of Jiangxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Award (Undergraduate Education Category), and the Second Prize of Jiangxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Award (Postgraduate Education Category).
