This engineering discipline was established in response to China's national strategy of building a manufacturing powerhouse and Jiangxi Province's "1269" Action Plan. Approved in 2020, it commenced its first enrollment in 2021. Supported by the university's first-level discipline doctoral program in mechanical engineering, postdoctoral research station, and a comprehensive undergraduate-master-doctoral talent development system, the program boasts a high starting point and solid academic foundation.

The faculty consists of 17 full-time teachers, 50% of whom hold senior professional titles, with 92% possessing doctoral degrees. This team comprises highly qualified educators with interdisciplinary expertise in instrumentation, mechanical engineering, and control systems.

Over the past five years, the institution has undertaken more than 20 national and provincial-level projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with total research funding exceeding 10 million yuan. It boasts three provincial-level research platforms, such as the Jiangxi Key Laboratory of Intelligent Robotics and the Jiangxi Engineering Research Center for Manufacturing Informatization, along with advanced teaching and experimental equipment valued at over 10 million yuan, all of which strongly support the cultivation of high-quality, interdisciplinary talents.

It is dedicated to cultivating well-rounded professionals with moral integrity, intellectual competence, physical fitness, aesthetic appreciation, and practical skills. Graduates will possess the ability to address complex engineering challenges in intelligent manufacturing, and be capable of engaging in intelligent system design, technological development, and production managementemerging as versatile, innovative, and highly specialized talents.

The core curriculum includes: Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Internet and Internet of Things, Intelligent Design and Simulation Technology, Intelligent Manufacturing Process, Robotics Technology, Intelligent Operation and Maintenance and Health Management, Sensor and Testing Technology, Database Principles and Applications, etc.

The research areas include intelligent sensing and control, digital design and manufacturing, industrial big data analysis, intelligent equipment research and development, etc.

In recent years, the inaugural graduating class of 2025 has demonstrated promising career trajectories, with a balanced distribution between further education and direct employment. The post-graduation rate exceeded 40%, with domestic students admitted to prestigious institutions including the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chongqing University, South China University of Technology, and Central South University. Additionally, some students pursued advanced studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
