Introduction

Established in 2005, the Institute of Military Industry at Nanchang University is a scientific research institution jointly initiated and founded by the former Jiangxi Provincial Office of National Defense Science and Technology Industry, key provincial military-industrial enterprises in Jiangxi, and Nanchang University. Relying on the disciplinary advantages of the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Nanchang University, the institute is based in Jiangxi and serves the whole country, striving to become a leading R&D, transformation and service platform in Jiangxi Province and an influential one nationwide for intelligent design, manufacturing, quality and reliability technologies of modern electromechanical equipment.

Research Directions

Since its establishment, the institute has carried out applied basic research, applied research and technological development in multiple fields such as equipment design, manufacturing, and operation and maintenance decision-making, and has formed the following research directions:

Talent Team

The institute has a high-level scientific research team consisting of 7 full-time teachers, 4 part-time technical experts from enterprises, and doctoral and master's students. The team includes 5 professors/senior engineers, 5 associate professors/senior engineers, 8 researchers with doctoral degrees, 3 recipients of provincial and ministerial-level or above talent programs, 1 member of the Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and editorial board members of several academic journals such as Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems.

Scientific Research and Platform Construction

The institute is equipped with advanced scientific research facilities, covering a total laboratory area of 600 square meters. It has established specialized laboratories including Environmental Stress Laboratory, High-Performance Numerical Simulation Laboratory, and Additive Manufacturing Laboratory, with complete R&D capabilities for technologies related to the design, manufacturing, operation and maintenance services of complex electromechanical equipment. Since its establishment, the institute has conducted applied basic research, applied research and technological development in multiple fields such as reliability engineering, intelligent design and manufacturing, and operation and maintenance decision-making of electromechanical systems, providing effective technical support for enterprises inside and outside the province, such as Jiangxi Hongdu Aviation Industry Group Co., Ltd., Chengdu Aircraft Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., AVIC Helicopter Research and Development Institute, Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai, Guangdong Midea Refrigeration Equipment Co., Ltd., and Nanchang Hitachi Appliances Co., Ltd.

In the past five years: The institute has undertaken 6 national-level scientific research projects, 12 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and more than 40 horizontal projects with enterprises, with a total project funding of over 12.8 million yuan; it has won 2 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards; obtained more than 30 authorized invention patents; transformed 6 achievements; published more than 100 papers included in SCI/EI; and cultivated 5 recipients of Jiangxi Provincial Excellent Doctoral Dissertations and 1 recipient of Jiangxi Provincial Excellent Master's Dissertation. The direct economic benefits generated by achievement transformation in the past three years have exceeded 800 million yuan.
