Introduction

Relying on the university's "Double First-Class" discipline advantages and the characteristics of medical-engineering integration, the Nanchang University Institute of High-End Medical Device Innovation takes the approved national-level platforms such as the "Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Cardiovascular Interventional Therapy and Device Research" and the "National Clinical Research Center for Cardiovascular Diseases Branch" as the core support. It has built a full-chain innovation system of "technological breakthrough - clinical verification - achievement transformation" and is an important force in medical-engineering integration innovation in China. The institute integrates high-quality resources from multiple fields including mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, and clinical medicine, focusing on key areas such as non-contact monitoring, intelligent diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation nursing, in vitro diagnosis, and health management, and has overcome many industry difficulties. Giving play to the advantages of directly affiliated hospitals, it has established a "doctor + engineer" joint research and verification mechanism to ensure that all R&D products accurately match clinical actual needs.

Core R&D Directions and Achievements

1. Non-Contact Monitoring

(1) Non-Contact (Remote Monitoring): Non-contact microwave + AI intelligent monitoring system for cardiopulmonary function, sleep, heart rate, respiration, and blood pressure; Millimeter-wave radar + photoacoustic temperature field monitoring system for blood pressure/blood glucose/blood lipids/vascular sclerosis; Intelligent vascular sclerosis monitor; Intelligent atherosclerosis monitor.(2) Non-Invasive Flexible Wearable (Skin-Attached): Non-invasive flexible wearable monitor for electrocardiogram (ECG), heart sound, and blood oxygen saturation; Non-invasive flexible wearable intelligent monitor for intra-abdominal pressure; Non-invasive flexible wearable intelligent cardiopulmonary monitor.

2. Intelligent Diagnosis and Treatment

AI-based early diagnosis system for Parkinson's disease; Intelligent closed-loop system for diabetes blood glucose monitoring + insulin infusion (including complication management); AI-based benign and malignant diagnosis system for breast/thyroid/lung nodules; Intelligent electrical stimulation control system; AI-based diagnosis and treatment system for Parkinson's disease/Alzheimer's disease.

3. Rehabilitation Nursing

Intelligent adaptive autonomous nursing bed with unmanned driving wheelchair; Intelligent cerebral atrophy treatment instrument; Intelligent temperature-controlled integrated acupuncture and moxibustion machine; Closed-loop intelligent regulation and treatment system for hydrogen-oxygen ratio.

4. In Vitro Diagnosis

Energy-based handheld ultrasonic thrombus measuring instrument; Intelligent automatic physical examination toilet for health management; Low-cost heterogeneous ultrasonic detector for fatty liver and myolipid; AI-based intelligent early screening, early warning and diagnosis system for oral/throat diseases; Energy-based handheld ultrasonic early screening and health management system for skin cancer.

5. Health Management

Home-based intelligent health monitoring terminal; AI-based ward round/vital sign examination/chat robot; Collagen microneedle skin care patch (facial mask/eye mask/neck mask).

Talent Team

The laboratory has 32 core members. Among the fixed staff of the laboratory, more than 75% have doctoral degrees, including 18 professors or researchers, 9 associate professors or associate researchers, and 16 staff under 40 years old, accounting for 50%. The personnel structure is reasonable, and more than 20 stable research directions and teams have been formed.

Scientific Research and Platform Construction

The institute is located in the Automotive Electronics Building of the North Campus of Nanchang University's Qianhu Campus. It has built an integrated R&D platform, manufacturing platform, clean laboratory, testing platform, and multi-functional exhibition hall covering design, R&D, manufacturing, clinical verification, and testing.

The institute deeply collaborates with dozens of enterprises, institutions, and scientific research organizations to strengthen industry-university-research application. A number of core achievements have been successfully transformed and put into practice, bringing significant economic benefits to cooperative enterprises. With national-level platform resources, interdisciplinary collaborative advantages, and full-process service capabilities, it can provide one-stop services such as customized technological R&D, core module integration, and clinical verification support.
