Application Notice for the 2026 Summer International Exchange Programme between Nanchang University and the University of Bristol

To deepen international educational cooperation between Nanchang University and the University of Bristol (UK), and to enhance students’ international perspective and professional competence, the School of Advanced Manufacturing of Nanchang University, in collaboration with the School of Engineering Mathematics and Technology at the University of Bristol, is launching an AI summer study and exchange programme. Details are as follows:

I. Programme Overview

Leveraging the world-leading artificial intelligence research strengths of the University of Bristol, this 10-day immersive learning and practice programme adopts AI as its core perspective, providing students with a platform for interdisciplinary learning and authentic research experience. Through distinguished lectures, hands-on experience with the Isambard-AI supercomputer, and visits to local UK companies, the programme helps students build practical understanding in the wave of global AI advancement, fostering cross-cultural communication and collaboration, enhancing English proficiency, and developing core competencies. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate of attendance issued by the University of Bristol. Outstanding participants may also receive a recommendation letter from a University of Bristol professor, supporting their applications to prestigious overseas universities and future employment.

II. Programme Details

Partner Institutions: School of Engineering Mathematics and Technology, University of Bristol (UK); School of Advanced Manufacturing, Nanchang University

Destinations: Bristol, London, Oxford, Cambridge

Duration: 10 days (19 July – 28 July 2026)

Accommodation: University student dormitories (immersive study abroad experience)

Language of Instruction: English (full immersion)

Number of Participants: 15–20 students

Programme Outcomes: Upon completion, students will receive a course certificate, which will be recognised in accordance with Nanchang University’s regulations on innovation and entrepreneurship credits.

III. Application

1. Eligibility Requirements

(1) Applicants must support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, love the motherland, and align themselves politically, ideologically, and in action with the Party Central Committee. They must hold correct worldviews, life values, and a firm political stance.

(2) Applicants must abide by national laws, regulations, and all university rules, demonstrating good character and honesty. They must have no record of disciplinary violations or any disciplinary sanctions during their studies at the university.

(3) Applicants must meet the relevant physical and mental health requirements.

(4) Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students at Nanchang University (priority is given to students majoring in science or engineering fields; students from the School of Advanced Manufacturing will receive preference).

(5) Applicants must have a certain level of English proficiency and a strong interest in AI.

2. Application Period and Method

Before 5 May 2026, please send the “2026 Summer International Exchange Programme Application Form” (see Appendix 3) to the email address: huangxinjie@ncu.edu.cn, providing your basic information and intention to apply.

IV. Programme Fees

1. Programme fees (fully covered by scholarships):

£3,125 per person, covering: course fees, on-campus accommodation, meals during campus accommodation, campus visit and exchange fees, activity organisation fees, designated local transport within the UK, entrance fees for designated attractions, coach driver fees, and overseas travel insurance.

2. Costs to be borne personally by the student:

International round-trip airfare, passport application fee, visa fee (the above three items are estimated at RMB 15,000 total), medical insurance during the stay in the UK, entrance fees and service fees for attractions not designated in the programme, and some meals when off-campus.
