Lab Philosophy

I believe research should be rigorous and genuinely enjoyable, and I place equal weight on students' theoretical foundations and practical engineering skills. I hope every student can grow fully through interdisciplinary collaboration and take genuine pleasure in identifying and solving scientific problems. Here, you will engage with deep intersections across mechanical engineering, biomedical sciences, materials science, and artificial intelligence, learning to tackle biomedical challenges from an engineering perspective.

We welcome students with backgrounds or strong interests in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Bioengineering, Materials Science, Fluid Dynamics, or Deep Learning. We also accept undergraduate research trainees, final-year project students, and joint master's students, to join us in exploring exciting research at the frontier of bio-manufacturing and biomedical engineering integration.

Main Research Areas:

Our group works at the frontier of precision manufacturing and life sciences, encompassing fundamental mechanism exploration, equipment development, and engineering applications in biomedical integration. We treat biomaterials such as hydrogels and living cells as inks for 3D printing. By elucidating the underlying physical mechanisms and developing advanced control algorithms, we precisely direct material formation at the micro/nano scale to construct functional tissues and devices, adopting an engineering mindset to address biomedical challenges.

·Bio-manufacturing Systems and Mechatronic Control: Development of 3D printing and other advanced fabrication equipment and processes; investigation of formation mechanisms of biomaterials at micro/nanoscales.

·Fluid Dynamics and Theoretical Mechanisms in Bio-manufacturing: Investigation of physical behaviors of biomaterials at microscale, including fluid control and processing studies.

·Digital Design and Computational Simulation: Application of AI and simulation in biological tissue topology, and volumetric printing algorithms.

·Functional Tissue Construction: Engineering-oriented approaches to biomedical problems; research on multi-material integrated forming processes for tissue reconstruction and functional repair.

·Flexible Sensing and Bio-Signal Interaction: Development of biocompatible flexible sensor devices.
